CIST

Well im 14 years old and i discovered a lump underneath the skin of my left nipple i am not sure what it is i think it is a cist but it causes pain if there is pressure added to it and it seems to be about the size of hmm a little smaller than a marble please give me advice!

Hi there.

Breast lumps are somewhat common in your age group and the cause is mostly benign.  This is really the age where the female hormones become unpredictable and irregular.  The breast tissues react to these hormonal irregularities sometimes producing these lumps.  

Specific conditions would includ fibroadenoma or fibrocystic disease.  Cysts can also be a presentation of these hormonal irregularities.

Observe this lump, see if this will subside after you had your period this month.  If persistent, then this may have to be evaluated by your doctor.
