CMF chemotherapy

I had a double mastectomy for five tumors (the largest was 2cm) in my left breast. I am node neg, er+, pr+, her2 neg.  I am 42 yrs. old and will take tomoxifan for 5 yrs. after my chemo. My Oncotype score is 16. What is the advantage of having 8 CMF cycles as opposed to 6 CMF cycles? Many of the studies that I have seen compare 12 cycles of CMF to 6 cycles of CMF and show 6 cycles to be just as effective.

Dear nancys1:  There are several possible regimens for adjuvant treatment of breast cancer.  CMF is one of them.  Very often the choice of drugs and number of cycles are physician dependent.  If you are concerned, you should get a second opinion from another oncologist.  Without evaluation, we cannot speculate on what regimen/number of cycles would be recommended for you.
