Caffine related to cycts?

Caffine related to cycts?

I've done some research and have found that some MD's say caffine can cause breast cycts and some say caffine does not.  My doc and I recently found a cycst on my left breast, however, before I could reduce caffine, it seems to have gotten smaller and definitely less painful.  I drink a cup of regular coffee each morning, usually a cup of decaff green tea, and maybe 2-3 caffine free soft drinks per week.  I've stopped my chocolate shakes (Atkins diet).  I am scheduled for an appointment with a surgeon in two weeks.  Will my cysy be gone by then?  Will they do an ultrasound on me to see if there are more? Does the caffine really cause cysts?  Thanks!

Dear jossell, Seeing as this "cyst" is decreasing in size, it is less likely to be concerning, as to whether it will be gone by then, it is impossible to say.  A lump can be more or less suspicious for being cystic or solid, but without further testing, for example by ultrasound, it is impossible to distinguish for sure, just by feel.  Depending on history and physical exam, will determine if further testing is needed.

Some research implicates caffeine as a culprit in the development of cysts, however it is controversial whether or not this is the case. Never the less some women find decreasing caffeine helpful.

I have had the same condition where my cysts grow when I drink or eat anything with caffiene.  Once or twice a year I have to get the cysts drained.  Another culprit to me is Soy products.  I have tested it and know for a fact on me that Soy products do the same as caffiene.
