Hi,
What is your age? Have you noticed any abnormal features on breast self examination like breast lumps, nipple discharge or skin changes?
Ask for a copy of the report and post it to us if possible.
Discuss in detail about the biopsy procedure with your surgeon. A biopsy would help in establishing a confirmed diagnosis and also to rule out malignancy and decide the further course of management.
The other possible option is to get a re-evaluation after 6 months - but that is only if your breast specialist thinks that the lesion is benign and can be managed with regular follow ups.
Let us know if you have any doubts and post us about how you are doing.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
I had 8 grouped calcifications the surgeon said that's why they suggested a biopsy..but I don't know how they are clustered.. didn't know to ask that question. mamadk
I must admit that this is the first I've heard of counting the microcalcifications and basing the followup time on that. Was a BIRAD Score assigned to your mammogram ? A 6 month followup doesn't seem at all unreasonable. 3 microcalcifications don't make much of a cluster. If you have serious doubts you can ask for your films to be read by a different Radiologist. This is your right.
