Yes, this could be the right technique your radiologist used to check your breast.
If a spot was detected,it's important to have it evaluated and this is why it's being investigated.
I hope it's really nothing to be concerned about, but you should be glad that your doctor is taking good care of you and just wants to make sure that you are okay.
Take care and good luck!
Thank you! I think that's what she did all 3 times. She held the implant all the way to the side and pulled the tissue and flattened it in the machine, is that what you're talking about? She did say there was a spot she was trying to see better on the underneath side.
It is always possible to have a false reading whether you have implants on not.It all depends on the radiologist's experience.
If you have breast implants, you should continue to have mammograms as recommended by your doctor, because implants can hide some breast tissue, making it more difficult for the radiologist to detect an abnormality on the mammogram. Some breast tissue (approximately 25%) will not be seen on the mammogram,as it will be covered up by the implants.Women with implants need additional x-ray pictures, called "Implant Displacement "(ID) views, the implant is pushed back against the chest wall and the breast is pulled forward over it.This allows better imaging of the forward most part of each breast.
Having a mammograms follow-up is not unusual in your case....this is done to make sure that no abnormality is detected.
Best wishes.
