Can I have breast reduction surgery?

Can I have breast reduction surgery?

I have been researching breast reduction surgery.  I'm 5'2", 120lbs, and wear a 34DD bra.  I have had 5 breast biopsies for all benign lumps in the past five years.  My breast exams are difficult due to the size of my breasts.  My question is whether a reduction would make it easier or more difficult to do a breast exam.  Would insurance be likely to cover such a procedure.  I have an appointment with my breast surgeon this afternoon and will talk with him regarding this issue, but would like your opinion also.  I must also mention that I have chronic back and neck pain, and have a difficult time running without breast pain even with a very supportive sport bra.  Thank you for your time.

Dear LuLu66, I would imagine that having the breast reduction would make doing a breast exam somewhat easier.  However, I do not think for this reason alone insurance would cover breast reduction surgery.  Whether or not this surgery would be covered by insurance would need to be discussed with the breast surgeon as well as your insurance provider.
