Can't tolerate Tamoxifen and medical alternatives

I"m posting this for my beloved niece who doesn't speak English. She was diagnosed with breast cancer about two years ago, had radiation, chemotherapy a lumpectomy and eventually a double mastectomy (about 6 months ago.)  She has the gene. She is very sensitive and cannot tolerate Tamoxifen or two medical alternatives her oncologist tried. She has four kids, two of whom are still young but she says she would rather not live than suffer the debilitating side effects of the drugs: bad pain, extreme exhaustion, can't move, etc. She tried taking a quarter dose and even with that, she couldn't bear it. She is currently not taking any medication and finally feels pretty good. She is a wonderful person and I really want to help her. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I know how your niece feels, as I felt the same way. It's one thing when you have physical side effects, but if these meds endanger you by messing with your soul, that is something entirely different, and I myself was not willing to mess with the most important part of myself, and which I most cherish of all my parts. (And that is what  the Aromatase Inhibitors did, less the Tamoxifen, but that was bad enough)

I hope that helps a little;  i mean you need to trust your niece on this. I also found that I was unable to  be a good mother on those meds.

I also had the same experience in that reducing the dose to half or even less made absolutely no difference, as a lower dose did not diminish the symptoms/side effects.
