Chest wall pain w/breast lump

by wondering1719, Oct 23, 2009 12:12PM
Dear Doctors,
Do you know anything about pain in the chest wall with lumps that feel like blobs attached to the chest?  Nothing showed on mammo or ultrasound but my breast aches and that side of my chest aches under the breast, and there happens to be a slightly tender blob attached right there.  I've already seen a breast surgeon about the breast pain (before I felt this particular lump) and she insists all is normal but it seems so wrong to me.  Except she also says the cords I have under the skin on that breast are Mondor's, even though they did not show on ultrasound or mammo.  I don't know what to do.  Please help if you can!  Thanks.

Dear wondering1719:  There are many possible explanations for breast pain.  Without reviewing all of the mammograms and ultrasounds and doing a clinical examination, it is impossible to speculate on what this might be.  If you are not comfortable with what you have been told so far, consider a medical breast specialist.  These are often associated with large academic medical centers.  Most breast cancer is not painful.
