Yesterday I had a core biopsy for a single clusterCluster headaches of microcalcifications BIRADS4. The clusterCluster headaches is deep in the breast near the chest wall so they were unable to get me numb. After three samples and extreme pain they stopped. They were wanting to get 12 samples. My question is, do you think I will have to have yet another biopsy and is there a chance they missed something because of having to stop the procedure?
Thank you for your answer. I was afraid someone was going to tell me that, even though I guess I knew it in the back of my mind all along. I don't think I could bare that ever again.
the radiologist gave up trying. And, it was decided that the surgical excision approach utilizing a localized wire to identify the area, was the way to go in order to perform a successful biopsy.
So, in answer to your question... yeah, if the doctor's feeling is that initial biopsy didn't accomplish the intended goal, which was to obtain enough tissue sample; another attempt, using a different approach may be the likely alternative.
