Complex Fibroadenoma -- Pending Surgery

Complex Fibroadenoma -- Pending Surgery

About 2 weeks ago I went to the dr for what felt like a pea sized lump in my left breast. He recommended a mammogram, which was followed by a sonogram, which was then followed by a core biopsy. My results came back and they said I had a "complex fibroadenoma" that showed characteristics of a Phyllodes tumor and recommended surgery.

I am waiting on the Dr. to call me with the appt time for meeting with the surgeon. In the meantime, I have developed pain in both my left and right lower armpits and now feel a nodule in my right breast. From what I read about Phyllodes tumors they grow pretty rapidly. I am very uncomfortable now on both sides and have been pouring sweat out of both armpits which is very rare and weird.

Any ideas, suggestions??? I am very scared  and nervous about this whole thing and would just love to hear from some other women who have A. Had the surgery and B. have dealt with the issues of pain in the armpits.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm sorry that you haven't gotten any responses yet to your post of 2/28/10.

I don't have any direct experience with either "A" or "B," but wanted to at least let you know that someone cares about what you are going through and wishes you well!

And just maybe, when my reply bumps your post back up to the top, someone with relevant experience will comment.

Best wishes...

p.s. I don't know if you searched the archives or read the posts in the "related discussions" box, but the thread cited below offers quite a bit of info about phyllodes tumors and their tx:

Just want to add my positive thoughts as well. I don't have any experience with complex fibroadenomas---just the regular ones. I've had two removed in the last few years and they weren't bad procedures. I was very nervous with them, too, so I was sedated for both. The recovery was very quick and not really painful. By the next day I felt pretty good, just sore, and I even went to a dance class that evening!  Please know your doctor will try to make it as easy on you as possible. There's lots of good information here and on other web sites, as bb says. Hopefully, someone with experience will get back to you, but even if they don't, you have our support and our
best wishes for a good outcome. Feel free to come back and share your experience, get emotional support or just to vent if you need to.
Hugs,
nc

I will have my surgery for fibroadenoma on March 26 I work as caregiver and I dont know really if the pain in my back and discomfort with my right breast where the benign tumor is has connections. I am pretty scared too but its more scary worrying this lump everyday and carrying it around all my life so I just think that Doctors' knows best and hope for the best.

I dont want to be under surgery coz I dont have any cuts in my body ever so I refused when I knew that I have it but my family are more concern and I listen to their counsels so I set this appointment and think God would be with them when they do the surgery and I would be fine.

PS my lump is bigger than what you have and its under the right side of my areola.

If anyone can respond to me I would really appreciate it too.  I am not that courageous but times like this I have to or it would be too late and regret is always at the end.
