Complex and Simple Breast Cysts

Hi:) I've noticed a lot of posts concerning questions about "complex breast cysts" and the questions are answered but the person posting never comes back with their 'results'.

I found a mass on my left breast. I went to the OBGYN for a referral for a DX Mammo and they (kind of) laughed at me and acted as if I was overreacting. Needless to say, I went anyway and got the Mammo.  But, All my annual screenings have been normal---even since the one in November.

I went for the DX (Disgnostic) Mammo and they also did an ultrasound 3 days ago. They found 3 cysts. Two were said to be "simple" and the other "complex"  They have set up a meeting with a surgeon to do a biopsy, etc.

Of course, I'm very afraid. All the research shows that 14 to 20% could be 'more than complex" but I remember my doctor saying "Cysts are not cancer" but why the Biopsy then?  Other research points to about 1 percent being other than benign.

When the nurse called from my OBGYN after making the referral from the Radiologist, she said the Radiologist told her she really didn't think it was anything, but I didn't hear that from the radiologist say that to me:( This nurse is from the same office that acted like I was nuts for wanting it checked out.  Those where the words they said when I had to ask for a DX Mammo.

The mass I found was nothing but it pointed the way to the other problem, etc. So, I don't even trust my OBGYN.

Anyway, if it is not cancerous, what else is contained in a "complex cyst" to make them order a biopsy?

Scared but hopeful,
Mimi

I went thru all that too. The biopsy is to make sure and to cover their as--- in case. I had needle aspirations of cysts several times over maybe 4 yrs. It is an out patient procedure without anesthesia that takes maybe an hr. They insert a very long very tiny needle in you and literally suck the liquid out. Then they send it to the lab. They tell u not to lift anything over 5 pounds for 72 hrs and use ice packs for discomfort. It isnt a painful process at all! Don't wear under wire bras. Sports bras are best for a few days.
All my opinion and from my experience only.
