Concerned about redness

by toad123, Sep 23, 2002 12:00AM
I had a breast infection about 10 months ago, more thena year after breast feeding. I was put on medication 4 times to clear it up. I now have no discharge but a large red spot remains on the breast that is warm to the touch. I have had several ultrasounds as well as a mammogram. The ultrasound revealed 2 complex cysts in the left breast an one in the right. The breasts are very painful. I have to go for another ultrasond at the end of October.
Should I be requesting aspiration. I'm just worried the redness and the amount of pain they cause. Thank You

Dear toad123, Since this has been a problem for such awhile, and the pain and redness continue despite the antibiotics further evaluation would be warranted. Having the cyst aspirated may be a direction to go if it is possible, this may relieve the discomfort and the fluid could be sent for analysis.   It might be worthwhile if you have not yet seen a breast specialist to have this type of doctor evaluate your case.
