Concerned about what step to take next.

I am 35 years old. When I was 33 years old my left breast swelled and I found a lump, had a mammogram on January 31, 2000 and it was benign, no masses seen. On July 5, 2001 I had a follow up on the same lump and it showed benign.  On April 17, 2002 I had another mammogram due to finding a different lump the size of a pea on the left breast also. The mammogram showed no mass at this area, but found a complex cyst and dense breast. I had it aspirated and it was green fluid, which was benign. I went back 6 months later for another follow up and my results are: the breast are heterogeneously dense, asymmetric breast tissue and category 3 probable benign. Since then the area, which was aspirated a small lump has also came back and I have pain up into my underarm with some dark discoloration. I was wondering should I stop worring about these and watch for changes or should I see a surgeon? I am exhausted. I was also wondering why on my first mammo on January 31,2000 I had average breast tissue and now it is heterogeneouly dense and asymmetric?  When I got ready to leave the mammo doctor asked me again how old I was and if there was any breast cancer in my family. I would appreciate any advise you could give me.

Thanks

Dear Machelle, It would be appropriate to seek another opinion, from a surgeon who specializes in breast disease.   A surgeon would want to see the mammograms from each time point in order to compare, also would want see the reports and information regarding any other testing (ultrasounds?) and the aspiration results in order to have this all reviewed and make recommendations.  New denseness to the breast, especially assymetric (only on the one side) should be evaluated and if you are not comfortable and continue to be concerned with the evaluation to this point a second opinion makes good sense.
