Confusion with the SUV Pet Scan values

In view my H&P report I am seeing SUV values that are exceeding 5.7, 6, 8 13... This is confusing... for example and I am quoting the report.  " A PET scan was done..." "showed foci of nodular activity in the right upper chestdeep to the pectoral muscles with an SUV exceeding 10."  there is so much of this information.  Left hilar exceed 8Lymphadenopathy  in the mediastinum and pretracheal exceeding 10.   There is so much more of this on this paper and I know that this is a non-curable cancer.  I just  want to understand this lanague.

Hi again,

I read your profile information after my post above. I was sorry to see that you are having to battle a serious recurrence...

Since you now have triple negative cancer (TNBC), if I understood correctly, I am wondering if you and your oncologist have looked into the possibility of applying for some of the clinical trials for  drugs, such as  PARP inhibitor, being tested  for TNBC?

(I hope you are getting a good response to your current chemo, but it's always good to have a back-up plan in case the usual drugs stop working...)

Hi and welcome to our community!

Questions in this forum are answered by BC survivors and other volunteers who are generally not identified as health professionals. The information you are seeking to understand is very technical, which may be why you haven't gotten any replies.

I would suggest you ask the doctor who ordered the PET scan to go over the report with you in detail, to make sure you get the correct information and interpretation of the findings.

Feel free to post additional questions, adding them to the same thread you have started,  if we can offer support or  information of a more general nature..

Best wishes...
