I am not involved in support group. But I have done genetic counselling and based on their recommendation and my request I have done genetic testing. My mom and my sister had BC and now I have DCIS. The result was negetive it means I do not have th eknow genes BRAC or BRAC2. My insuurce paid for the test which costs $3200 and I paid $650 or another extera test which insurace didn't pay called BART. That was negetive as well. Norah

I was in a support group and it really helped me.  It all depends on the dynamics of the group, I think, and the ability of the facilitator to keep things on track, recognize who really needs to vent and who can help.  If you try one and you don't care for it, try another.

Thanks for response. Have not heard of the BART test. Will check it out online. Thank GOD for Google. My grandmother and my mom's first cousin both died of BC. Trying to make a list of questions to ask on Thursday when I see the breast surgeon.
