Cyst vs. Inflammatory breast cancer

I went to the doctor yesterday about a small pea size lump under my breast that showed up two weeks ago. It has some redness and has some discomfort. He said he did not know what it was but would gladly surgically remove it and send it off but said it's nothing. My question is could it be a cyst of some sort or the beginning stage of IBC?

Dear daisybell:  Inflammatory breast cancer usually presents as a red, hot, swollen breast.  Skin on the breast is like skin anywhere else on the body and is subject to a variety of abnormalities some as simple as a pimple.  If you are concerned, you can have your doctor remove it.
