Cyst

Last April I had a lumpectomy to remove non-cancerous microcalcifications.  Last week I received a result from a heart scan with a notation that scar tissue and a cyst were noted in the left breast in the area where the lumpectomy was performed.  I am scheduled for a mammogram next week to check this out, at my own request.  My question is, is there really a cyst after this short of time (5 months) and if there is, why wasn't it found when the lumpectomy was done or is it possible that the cyst formed in this short of a period of time. Thank you.

Dear brownsgirl, A cyst could develope in this short period of time.  A cyst is a fluid-filled structure, often an ultrasound is used to distinguish between a cyst and a solid area.
