I had a similar situation to yours. The SNB is usually done as a precaution, due to the DCIS being large in size. DCIS is encapsulated within the milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal ducts, and there are different types - Comedo happens to be the more aggressive type in that if any - it would spread more quickly than the other types. Having said that it is a very early form of breast cancer, and is still classified as stage 0. Your surgeon is just being cautious and that is a good thing. From what I have researched, it is more common for the SN to come back negative than positive for infection with DCIS.
Let us know what the pathology indicates, in the mean time try to stay positive, and I know its hard but try not to worry. Hope this helps.
