DCIS AND HORMONE RECEPTOR NEG.?

I was diagnosed with DCIS and had the mastechtomy and tram flap reconstruction on April 30th.  The pathology reports say that the microscopic cancer cells were all thru out my breast and that I cant be treated with hormone therapy because I am HRneg.
I read that the only treatment for that is chemo but also the 3 lymph nodes they tested all came out negative.  I am scared to death to have chemo and was wondering if they say I am 98% cured then do they not have to do chemo?
I thought after sugery that would be the end of it. Does everyone have to have treatments after surgery? I am scheduled to see my oncologist next week but am anxious to know before hand.
Thank you,
Susan

Dear susan617: If this is truly DCIS, then chemotherapy may not be needed at all.  For DCIS, you have probably had definitive therapy.  If, however, there is any invasive cancer in the pathology, then chemotherapy may be recommended.

I was also diagnosed with DCIS April 16th 2004. My onvologist has recommended Tamoxifen daily for 5 years and 33 days of radiation. Because it had not spread and was DCIS there will be no chemo.  I too was very afraid of the perspective and hopefully uou wont have to take it either. Hope this helps.
