Denied Cancer Medical Coverage

Denied Cancer Medical Coverage

I was denied medical coverage for cancer because they said that I had a lot of cysts in my breasts.  The last two mammograms I had to have SG's to make sure my cysts/nodules were not cancer.   Does this mean that I am at a high risk of getting breast cancer because of my cysts.  My grandmother had a lot of cysts in her breasts and never got breast cancer.  No one in my family has ever had breast cancer.  Also, has anyone been denied medical coverage because of this, and if so, were they able to fight it to be able to get the medical coverage.  Thanks.

I think that is outrageous.  I don't think they can deny you coverage if you do, god forbid diagnose you with BC.  You might never get BC, but if you do, they have no way of denying you coverage for that.  It wouldn't be a pre-existing condition.  I can't believe that they don't have to cover it by law.  What kind of insurance is that?       And what does having alot of cysts have to do with it?  I will be anxious to see what comes of this.  I also don't have the best insurance plan and I worry, since my husband is a non-tenured teacher and I fear my coverage might stop (can't afford COBRA) in the middle of treatment if, god forbid, my diagnosis comes back bad and he isn't rehired by his school next year  I hope someone fixes this ^%&*^(^ health insurance crisis for people.  We should never have to worry about being taken care of in this country.  Good luck.  But, you are healthy now, and don't have a reason to worry.  Just keep up your mammos.  You are entitled to those.

I was denied insurance coverage by all the major companies because I had high blood pressure and tachycardia when I was hyperthyroid last year. Even though I had surgery to correct the problem, I have been denied coverage by them all.  I had to pay for my own surgery (borrowing from friends and family since the hospital wanted to be paid prior to the surgery), and I ended up paying over $15,000 last year in medical bills.  It's certainly is outrageous, especially in your case, since there is no breast cancer history.  I have very cystic breasts as well, but I've never been denied because of it.  Good luck to you, and maybe this new administration (if you're from the US) will make some changes that will help us all.
