Dicharge

Hi, Friday morning my left nipple was a little itchy when I checked it was leaking a clear sticky discharge which turned to blood when squeezed, did this all weekend,  Sunday being the worst day. I did feel what felt like maybe a raisin size lump just behind the nipple, it was soft and moved. The bleeding and clear fluid is almost gone by Tuesday. Had a mamogram Tuesday, it came back normal. Nurse told me to go home a rest easy. I don't feel the lump any more either. But should I let it go or see someone else, is there something else I should do.

Hi,

Ask your doctor if the discharge needs to be sent for lab analysis.

Also ask him/her any doubts that you have.

Carry on regular breast self examinations and follow up with your doctor periodically.

Keep us posted and let us know what the doctor advises.

Regards.

Hi, Thank you so  much for your reply. I am going to a Dr. on Monday. The discharge was without squeezing, but more if squeezed. Now it has stopped, I am 41 years old. With no family history of breast cancer. Thanks, Sue

Hi,

What is your age?

A nipple discharge is significant and needs to be investigated further if it is persistent, comes without squeezing and is bloody or altered.

You should not panic, and go ahead with regular breast self examinations but do not squeeze too much.

If you notice a discharge again, consult your doctor or breast specialist and then this discharge could be sent for lab analysis.

Report any abnormal features to your doctor.

Do let us know how you are doing.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
