Diets for diabetics taking chemotherapy

Many nausea calming foods such as rice and bananas are also high in carbs which create an increase in blood sugar -- not a good thing for diabetics.  Are there other foods that can help to calm nausea and keep blood sugar low? Thanks.

Dear flor186:  When managing nausea during chemotherapy, the whole picture must be considered.  If a person is unable to eat normally, bananas or rice or toast may be perfectly acceptable as one can induce a low blood sugar if on diabetic medication and not eating at all.  Conversly, if intake is not a problem, these may not be the best choices for a diabetic.  If this is a problem, we recommend that you see a registered dietician who can review your situation (and blood sugars) specifically and make personal dietary recommendations.  You may also check out this web site for some tips.  http://www.chemocare.com/eatingwell/tips_for_managing_eating_problems.asp
