Discovered a lump

by blondy1, Nov 07, 2009 12:42PM
I discovered a pea sized lump just under the skin on my right breast (underside, 21/2 " under the nipple)
It is slightly painful and has bruising (purplish). I suspect it is an ingrown hair but it has persisted. I have no
breast cancer history in my family but other cancers on my paternal side such as lung cancer and sarcoma.
I am 39 years old, very active but slightly overweight. My last breast exam was march 2008. I have never had
a mammogram.
Thank you.

I would certainly have this investigated by your Dr. I think it's a good idea to see your Dr. at least once a year so now is a good time to make that appointment. If this is truly just under the skin and not in the breast tissue itself I doubt breast cancer but it would take a professional examination to determine this for certain. No matter what it is, it needs some attention and treatment.   Regards ....
