Do you like the new "masthead" for this forum?

I've been wondering how approriate  the picture of pretty little breasts in a pretty little bra is to represent our forum, when countless of our members have had to have mastectomies...

So I decided to take a poll:

Thanks, Emily!

It's great to have the familiar blue back--and to have choices, so that there is something that is good for everyone!

Hey everyone -

We made some changes, most of which are easily recognized.

One you may not see immediately is that you can adjust the background color.  Go to the thread list page, and just under the picture, click on Forum Settings.  You can choose which color you prefer.

Any questions, let me know.

Hi, bb,
I got to this late but I also voted "No" on the breasts in the pink bra photo.
I not so against the pink ribbon they have at the top now. It's pretty much universally accepted as the symbol for breast cancer awareness and issues. It's great that Emily got right on it, and the other updates sound good, too. Thanks for bringing up the issue and geting the changes done!
I'm sure many, many women here appreciate it along with the support they get from all you wonderful ladies!
Hugs,
nc

Hi there -

Just got an update from Engineering and Development.  We have no timelines yet for these changes, as the work is just starting, but keep in mind some are very complicated.

Our highest priority changes are:

*  There will be a preview of each thread, with a couple of lines showing in the main thread listing.  (We have already shared this one.)

*  More responses will show in the thread list, so instead of showing the most recent 2, it will show more.

*  We will be increasing the number of threads per page in the thread list.

This is not likely the total list of changes, but this is what we know for sure now.

Hi everyone -

The main photo is going to be changed soon (not sure when exactly, but it shouldn't be more than a couple of days, at most), and we will also be bringing back the one or two line preview of each thread that we had in the past.

That change is much more involved than the forum photo, so it probably will be a few weeks at least before we see it.

I haven't heard anything else yet, but will keep everyone posted.

I hate it, for all the reasons given here!  For people who have had major breast surgery rt can be a depressing contrast to reality.  I dislike the overuse4 of pink..Men can also get breast cancer, also.

Emily, thanks. This picture is very insensitive and should be  changed.

Also, as bluebutterfly's use of quotation marks for "masthead" seems to recognize, it is not a masthead; it is a banner. A masthead is the listing of editors, etc.

Thanks all!  I have passed all these concerns onto the powers that be.  I don't know what the outcome will be, but I promise you are being heard.

I agree with you a 100% bb... and I voted "No I don't like"

I am not a fan either, for the same reason that you and Sue have mentioned.
Also I am disappointed that this new change is not showing Japdip as  our Community Leader! Her statement is very important for newcomers to read and come to know this wonderful knowledgeable woman who has helped thousands of people throughout the years....
Thanks bb for letting us vote....

I'm not a fan to be honest. I think everyone knows what breasts look like. Perhaps I should send in a few of my mastectomy pictures or maybe a couple of the biopsy photos... or maybe reconstruction photos.....

kidding.. not sending in my photos... because it wouldn't be appropriate just as the lovely photo above isn't appropriate either. Just my humble opinion.
