Does IBC develope quickly?

About 3 weeks ago I discovered a large lump in my breast. ALong with the lump I have experienced a lot of pain. I had a mammo and ultrasound last Monday and was referred to another Dr for a biopsy. Today, as I was getting very depressed, I started cleaning everything in the house. Afterwards, I took a shower. When I removed my bra I noticed my breast seemed somewhat puckered. When I lifted it up I noticed a pink color to the both of my breast inching it's way almost to my nipple. The color was sort of a marbled pink.
I was on a long planned vaction to Italy during March and April so I honestly did not perform my breast exams. After getting home I "forgot" until I experienced the pain the first week o2 in May. Can IBC come on this quickly? What should I ask the surgeon when I see him tomorrow afternoon? Shou;d I question IBC? I am very nervious about htis as both my mom and gm mother died from BC. Thanks for you input - Jean

Like I said, I wasn't trying to be stupid, so I appreciate the percise and non-technical definition.  I am trying to educate my self, It is just I do not read well or comprehend well, plus I am dexlexic and get very overwhelmed and confuse. I truly think, of course I am 1/2 joking, ha, ha, that I am one of those adult, misdiagnosed, ADD kids. I can't play vidoe games, but I do like to type. You all could not read my handwriting. Besides the brain damage I recieve during a car wreck when I was 16. Any way, so much about me. I'm sorry, I guess I got off on a tangent. I do really appreciate your information and comments. There are so many different cases it just makes my head hurt!. I do appreciate your help as it it easier for me to look with my typinf fingers than to read. I am  sorry to hear how aggressive and rare it is. lady4law I hope you have had some further, quicker investigations snd results.and hope treatment if and when necessary is aggressive enough to knok the living crud out of this for you. Let me know and I will send some big and power angels in flight to throw a few punches at it.

Hi there - IBC stands for Inflammatory breast Cancer - it is not IDC. IBC is rare compared to IDC and usually presents with a very hot and inflamed breast and can have peau d'orange (skin that looks like an orange). It doesn't usually have a "lump". but puckering, especially around the nipple can also be a symptom.  It is perhaps the most aggressie of breast cancers and grows very quickly. If you Google Inflammatory Breast Cancer you will find much more technical information.

Call me stupid, but does IBC stand for infiltrating breat cancer? I had a lump detected and after a biopsy it was diagnosed as infiltrating ductal cacinoma. I had to wait a few weeks for my biopsy appointment because they were busy and that was the soonest they could get me in. Ask, if you haven't already, if the can get you in any sooner or call if they have a cancellation and you can be thre. Also ask your docotr to referr you somewhere else if availablity is better, etc. Being comfortable with the people  where ever you go is so important.. The waiting for results were hard, but the report of cancer was harder. Patholgy from biopsy should only take 3-5 days. I got mine in 2 days. The important thing, as I have been told, is to act quickly. When my gyno told me about the cancer, she said she was going to give me 2 days to find a surgeon or she would find one for me. Time is of the eesence. I had no family history of breast cancer and was floored by the results. Perhaps yours will be normal. I have heard that most cancer masses do not cause pain. Mine did not. Don't rule anything out though. I had a lumpectomy and 2 lymphnodes removed all came back with no cancer cells detected so I am waiting to have an MRI until further treatment, if any is determined. I was told it takes about 1 month to heal enough to have the MRI done, so that is why I am waiting. I just had surgery on May 15th. MRI is on June 21st. See the other forum, where initial questions to the Docotrs are posted. There is a great deal of patient to patient info there as well. I wish you the best and will pray for a miracle.

I saw my surgeon today and he wants to do a biopsy ASAP, as he believes this is IBC. In fact it appears the growth has grown considerably since my mammogram on June 1st. HE wanted to perform the procedure this Friday but his nurse told me I would have to wait 3 weeks. My son, “hopefully in remission himself, was very upset with this nurse who continue to state, as long as you haven’t had the biopsy or the results, there’s no issue. She continues to stick her head in the sand as my son tried over and over again to say, “what if this is IBC, and it could spread well your waiting and ignoring”. He wants me to call another Dr in the morning and see if I can have by biopsy in a day or 2. The Dr explained needle and core biopsys but removal of the entire tumor, his preference.
