Does "increased blood flow to lesion" in breast MRI mean greater risk of malignancy?

Brief history: No family history of breast cancer, but strong history of colon cancer.  Breast reduction & lift in June 2004 with staph infection to left breast immediately thereafter, causing hardened area, I discovered change to existing lump in late Aug 2008, followed by indentation in early October 2008. Diagnosed as fat necrosis by 2 biopsies in Nov & Dec 2008, but area I noticed as changed was not biopsied.  Follow-up appt on 5/19/09: Ultrasound showed area that had "changed" and Mammo showed new "dense area w/cluster of microcalcifications" according to Radiologist, who then recommended 2 addl. biopsies stating that they may have missed target area in previous biopsies.  Went to different surgeon for 2nd opinion.  Had MRI which "lit up the screen" in the same area as indicated on Ultrasound & Mammo, and showed "increased blood flow to lesion".  This corresponds to area of change I originally felt.  Given all of this, what is the likelihood that this is a malignant lesion and if not, what else could it be?

Only the biopsies can determine the exact cause of the microcalcifications. These calcifications cluster due to some abnormality and this doesn't necessarily mean cancer.  It could be related to the past surgery, the infection or some other factor. I'm sure the biopsy results will clear this up for you.  Regards ....

Just had an ultrasound guided biopsy on Monday, making it my third one since I discovered the changes in my breast last year - forgot to write that.  Hopefully I will receive results today but it may be tomorrow.  I am just worried and it's so hard waiting...again...

Thank you for your input and you are right, I will not know for sure until I get the biopsy results.  I just wondered what benign lesions might require increased blood flow?  Someone told me that she had an area of increased blood flow that turned out to be a fibroedema(sp?), but the discription does not sound at all like what I have.

Again, thank you!
