Does this mammogram indicate signs of cancer or in the near future?

Hi,
I am worried about this very much.
This is the report of the mammogram, I am 47 years old women, post menopause at the age of 42.
What do the results of the mammogram indicate?
Please let me know if this indicates any chances of cancer in the near future, is there any thing i need to worry?
Do i need to go for a biopsy? Is there any indication of malignancy?
Does the mammogram show a precancerous condition? Does it mean calcification in the arteries within my breast?
Is it macrocalcifications(safe) or microcalcifications? What are the risks and benefits of "watchful waiting?
When should another mammogram be taken?

BILATERAL MAMMOGRAM, craniocaudal and mediolateral views.

Fibrofatty breasts (Grade 1 density)

Few areas of amorphous calcification noted in tge central quadrant of the right breast which are not significantly pleomorphic.
No other clustered microcalcification.
No architectural distortion / spiculated mass lesion or asymmetric density detected in either breast.
Skin and Nipple are Normal.
Bilateral benign axillary lymphnodes.

Impression:
-small cluster of amorphous calcification in the right breast which is probably benign but needs followup.
-no other suspicious features.
- BIRADS 3 (short term follow up). ADVICE single breast mammpgram after 6 months.

Thanks,
Ramya

Hi,

The report says,
Few areas of amorphous calcification noted in tge central quadrant of the right breast which are not significantly pleomorphic.
and also the below line.
No other clustered microcalcification.

Does this means the amorphous calcification is macrocalcification?

I heard that there is no harm in macrocalcification?

Does amorphous calcification means dangerous?

mastectomy is painful, how is that?
Is there any chances of getting again after taking treatment and surgery?

I am very nervous and couldn't think i can wait for 6 months.

I had mammogram in Dec 08 which had microcalcifications BIRAD 3, follow up in 6 months recommended.  I had follow up in June09 and came back BIRAD 4, shortly after that I had stereotactic core needle biopsy that came back DCIS, comedo type high nuclear grade.  I had mastectomy last week and pathology came back all DCIS and no lymph nodes involved.  Please do follow up, it could be nothing but like mine it could be something.  Just thought you ought to know!

The only item of concern is the cluster of microcalcifications noted and these clusters can often indicate some future problem ...... this however does not mean that this will be an indication of cancer. Clustered microcalcifications can indicate a benign condition in many cases but do need the short term follow up as indicated. The 6 month interval is normal procedure ..     Regards ....
