Draining cycst

Why are cycsts commonly left alone and not surgically removed?  Why is the fluid sometimes drained from the cycst? After draining a visible cycst is it likely that the "sac" will remain visible and never disappear?

Draining a cyst is a much simpler procedure that can be done with only a needle stick rather than a surgical type procedure. The sac does remain after the cyst is drained. If the cyst causes no discomfort it is often just left alone completely.
