ER/PR- and HER2+ intensity 1

Hello.. the doctor's advised is to have ACT (Adriamycin (chem name: doxorubicin)
Cyclophosphamide (brand name: cytoxan)
Taxotere (chem anme: docetaxol) - in 6 sessions but it is very expensive... the 2nd option is to include taxotere in the last 3 sessions only and the first 3 doesn't include taxotere..is it acceptable? if we opt the 2nd option, is it less effective? what are the other options for ER/PR- and her2+?

Hi there.

Presently, adjuvant treatment for breast cancer that includes the taxanes (like taxotere) is recommended for lymph node positive breast cancer.  Giving taxotere at the same time with doxorubicin and cytoxan compared to giving taxotere after the two drugs will probably result in the same benefit.  However, the taxotere should be given for 4 cycles after 4 cycles of doxorubicin and cytoxan (and not just 3 cycles each).  Other options would include the other taxane: Taxol, which may be cheaper than Taxotere which is also given for 4 cycles after 4 cycles of doxorubicin and cytoxan.

I suggest you discuss these options with your doctor and hopefully decide on the most appropriate regimen.

Take care and God bless.
