Elevated AST -liver enzyme

Elevated AST -liver enzyme

I finished my chemo of CEF (6 months) in March 2001. I have had some pain in my upper right quadrant. Thought I was having a gallbladder attack. My AST has been elevated since I started chemo - was 85, dropped to 50 and now it is back to 65. I was told that sometimes a ? fatty liver can cause the elevation due to the chemo. Will this go away on its own as the chemo leaves my body?

Dear Fuzzywuzzy, The elevation in the AST level could be due to many conditions, and chemotherapy can affect the liver, which then can be reflected in an increased AST level.  The level should decrease the further you are from chemotherapy.
