Elevated CEA with newly diagnosed DCIS

I was found to have DCIS with mucolcele-like tumor and foci highly suspicious for mucinous carcinoma (cribiform, nuclear grade 2/3 per core needle bioppsy after an abnormal routine manmmogram.  From the needle biopsy report the area was described as left 9:00 microcalcifications size 17 x 8 x 16 mm.  I'm scheduled for a lumpectomy with SLN biopsy in one week.  Today, I was in the office for my pre-op H&P and found out that my CEA is 25.  I'm an otherwise healthy 54 yo female that does not smoke or drink.  No history of breast cancer anywhere in the family.  I've never had children but that seems to be my only risk factor.

It just so happens that I was having a routine baseline abd ultrasound before starting on HRT and a large chocolate cyst 10 x 9 x 3 cm was discovered in/on the left ovary.  We decided today to let that be until after the breast surgery as it is not causing any pain at the moment.  (This was evidently not present on my last pelvic exam done in May of this year.)

After coming home and doing some research online about CEA levels I'm extemely concerned that there is more going on here.  There is a history of GI cancers in paternal grandparents and an uncle, all of whom were also fairly heavy drinkers.  We were going to try to fit a colonoscopy in before the breast surgery but the schedules are full for several weeks.

I'm scared.  I feel fine, have a little IRB (constipation type) but that is about it.  All other labs seem to be good.  MRI of breast was done today but I don't have the results.  What should I be thinking/doing now?  Demanding a colonoscopy?  PET scan?  Other?

Thank you for listening.

Wow!! You sure have alot of info!! Why just a lumpectomy?? I get chills when I hear women getting 'lumpectomies'. Personally, I would have a bilateral mastectomy and a hysterectomy. No future worries!!  They are just boobs and ovaries!! If you haven't had a colonoscopy done ever, just have it scheduled whenever they have an opening, get it over with..and quit worrying!!  Life is too short!!

From a bilateral mastectomy 2 yr survivor!! (mentally and physically!!)
