Enlarged lymph node in Right breast

I am a 57 yr. old white female and had a mammo this week, I detected a rather large lump in my right breast. After mammo I was very hurriedly sent to ultrasound, where I was greeted by a very stern young lady who began checking out my breasts. After she finished with my right breast she quickly stated the radiologist wants me to check your left breast also. During all of this procedure another nurse came in to observe, all of this was very unnerving. After it was done I was handed a towel to clean up, and they both left. Sometime later the Tech and the Radiologist came back in, the Dr. stated that I had enlarged Lymph nodes in the right breast and that they were not cancer. He told me not to worry and walked out. I had no opportunity to ask any questions. Am I in danger of cancer? Should this be tested for other things? Help??

I just wanted to add that I'm sorry your experience with the radiology staff was so unnerving. Most medical professionals, especially ones dealing with women with breast issues, are much more kind and try their best to put you at ease. I've been fortunate to have that kind of treatment with my biopsies and testing over the past 8 years and I'm sorry yours wasn't that way. I'm a retired nurse and I know I always tried to put my patients at ease during any treatments or education, but sadly that isn't always the case. You might want to report your experiences to the head of the department, not to get anyone in trouble or sound like you're complaining, but to hope changes can be made so someone else doesn't have the bad experience you had. I would also contact my personal doctor who ordered the testing. Ask for a complete report and answers to any questions you may still have. You have the right to know what's going on with your body and to feel at ease with your test results.
I do agree with cheppie---I have a lymph node in one breast also and they aren't uncommon or serious. I'm sure your doctor will want you to have regular mammos "just because", but I wouldn't be worried.
Take care and I wish you all the best,

Thank you, just to hear from another person makes me feel better. These doctors forget with all the people they see that we do have feelings. Thank you again.

I have had breast cancer and by what you are saying it sounds like the
medical professionals did their there job.  If you are still concerned... I
would call the Office and have them send you the results and with an
explanation.  Its not odd to have enlarged Lymph nodes.  They wanted to
check the other one to compare.  It doesn't sound like you need to be
concerned but I would ask for the paper for your piece of mind.
