Hi,
An excisional biopsy (sometimes called a lumpectomy) is when the entire tumor or lymph node is removed completely. Try to stay calm and don’t be scared …this procedure is done with a local and IV sedation. You’ll be in a twilight sleep and won’t feel any discomfort at all.
Wishing you the best and most of all benign results.
The biopsy should be a simple procedure. Hopefully this is not a malignancy. Among the malignancies that should be considered are Hodgkin's Disease, lung cancer (especially if you are a smoker) and, even if you are a male, breast cancer.
So sorry you feel scared, but trust me a lumpectomy procedure is not as bad as you think. I had it done and it wasn’t a big deal at all. It’s always the unknown that scares most of us, but I promise you’ll be just fine.
If you find it difficult to control your anxiety, it would be a good idea to ask your Doctor for some type of medication like “Ativan” to help you feel less stressed about the biopsy.
Take care…
Thanks just so hard not to be scared
