Evista Medication

Evista Medication

I finally seen an oncologist today because of the pathology report showing I had atyhpical hyperplaisa/carcinoma in situ.he said I am cancer free right now, but a high risk of getting breast cancer so he is recommending this medication Evista. Of course there are side effects now what medication doesn't have any side effects right.Has anyone taken this medication of Evista an had bad side effects or has seen great results in preventing getting breast cancer? My prayers go out to all of you going threw treatment right now or who were just diagnosed.

Does anyone know if these two medication do help to reduce breast cancer. I finally seen an oncologist today because of the pathology report showing I had atyhpical hyperplaisa/carcinoma in situ.he said I am cancer free right now, but a high risk of getting breast cancer so he is recommending this medication Evista. He said Evista was better then the tomoxafin because it causes less blood clots. Is this true? I haven't started any meds yet, since IM going to get a  second opinon first to see what is the best course of medication for me to take.Of course there are side effects now what medication doesn't have any side effects right.Has anyone taken this medication of Evista an had bad side effects or has seen great results in preventing getting breast cancer? My prayers go out to all of you going threw treatment right now or who were just diagnosed.

Tamoxifin can cause blood clots and uterine cancer. Evista is a little better in the side effects I believe, however everyone is different.  I also have ADH(atypical ductal hyperplasia) and it increased my risk from 1.6 to 3.2 which is doubled, so I am considering the same thing. I am also having pathology reviewed by yet another lab to be sure it is not DCIS, which I am sure the other pathology report is no doubt correct.  The best thing for you to do is to research.  Then make your decision. if the med causes bad side effects ie hot flases to where you cannot stand it, then tell the doc you tried and its not for you.  Me, ,I am still waiting from Oncologist advise.

Thank you for your respond. I asked my MD& OBYN about the guy that read my pathology report they both trusted his report. But Im also waiting on the second opinion of another oncologist to see what medication he recommends. My MD said I definetly need to go on something, but I can wait till I have my follow up MRI & ultra-sound to make sure no other cancer cells showed up after the biopsy. Best of Luck an my prayers are with you keep me posted on your out come.
