Extra Breast Tissue in right armpit

by AngelaMacam, Jul 05, 2009 01:28PM
Hello, I am 25 yrs old. married with a two yr old son and expecting my 2nd child due on October 18th.
I was diagnosed with extra breast tissue on my right armpit, Surgeon said it is safe to have it remove after i gave birth. I am hoping i can do it a month after i gave birth, since i plan to breastfeed my baby and my insurance will expire 3 mos. after i gave birth (I have a publicaid insurance). I was wondering if that can be a great time to have the surgery. my OB said i have to finish breastfeeding before proceeding to surgery and im afraid i cant do that due to my insurance will expire. but my surgeon said its ok to do the surgery even im breastfeeding. and can still continue to breastfeed right after my surgery.
Im hoping to hear your opinion.
Thank you very much.

Dear AngelaMacam:  This is a breast cancer forum and as such, cancer is our expertise.  Whether or not it is advisable to remove benign breast tissue early postpartum and then still breast feed should be discussed between a breast surgeon, your OB and a pediatrician.
