Eye floaters

by frustratedrg, Oct 26, 2008 06:26PM
Ive been on Femara for 7 months.  I have noticed some visual disturbances including vitreous floaters.  I have been to the opthamologist who says there is no correlation between Femara and my eyes.  Has anyone heard anything to the contrary.

Hi there.

I would also agree with your ophthalmologist about the non correlation between that of femara and this eye floaters.  The common side effects of femara would include musculoskeletal symptoms such as that of bone pains.  However, you should be asking your ophthalmologist regarding what he thinks about the floaters, its probable causes and you should not be contented with the explanation of 'it's not connected with femara'.  I know that floaters can be sometimes due to stress or nutritional imbalances but it is best to get his opinion for this.

Regards and God bless.

Hi - if you don't mind me asking, have you had cataract surgery?  I had somewhat early onset cataracts, of the type that the ophthalmologist said are due to steriods.  I have been "pumped full" of steriods since I was a kid in Kansas, when nothing else would control my allergies or sinus problems.  This type of cataract looks different than the typical "old age" cataracts.  I have had quite a problem with floaters since the cataract surgery.  I'm guessing you might already be past 50 yrs. of age.  Something to be very aware of is what my opthalmologist called a "shower" of floaters.  In my case, I also had flashing lights.  It was a warning of sorts that my retina was possibly detaching.  Thankfully it did not happen but it was scary.  My opthalmologist said to call him immediately if I had these symptoms again.  He said we do get more floaters as we age (that's the reason for my reference to your age.)  People like me, who have had cataract surgery have more problems with floaters.  Hope you get to the bottom of this problem.  Take care, Kay
