Femara/Actonel

I posted a question a few days ago and do not see it up yet--so will try again! I am a breast cancer survivor, having gone through chemo, then radiation during the past year. I am now taking Femara for hormone therapy and also Actonel, because my bone scan showed bone loss.I want to know if aching joints ( I have osteo-arthritis) and bones are a common side effect. What, if any , interactions are there between the 2 drugs? Are hemherroids also likely? Thanks!

Dear rusie,  Bone and joint pain are noted as a possible side effect of both medications, Femara and Actonel.  Hemorrhoids are not noted as a side effect of either of these medications, however, constipation is a noted side effect of Actonel, which could contribute to hemorrhoids.  Within the product information there is no mention of negative interactions between these 2 medications.

Regarding the posting of your question, this is the first post we have received.  Note that there is a limit to the number of questions that get through to us each day and there is another Breast Forum for patient to patient support. We do not answer questions on that Forum.
