What is Fibrocystic disease and what are microcalcifications?

Hi there.

Firbocystic disease is a condition wherein there is increased response of the breast tissues to the hormonal changes in a woman's body.  These changes can be diffuse, such that resulting in fibrocystic disease, or may form a lump or tumor such that of fibroadenoma.

Calcifications are radiographic appearances (from mammogram) that is produced by abnormal tissues whether benign or malignant.  Calcifications can have several patterns that can give the clue if the lesion is benign or has malignant tendencies.  Fibrocystic disease can manifest as benign looking microcalcifications  in a mammogram.

is Fiberoadenoma dangerous disease? Actually i have operated two times and my test was normal that time but now i have again found small lumps on my breast. What should i do? i m really worried

Fibroadenoma is a benign breast disease in which the lumps come and go. The lumps seem to be influenced by estrogen, so they are seen mostly in younger premenopausal women. When they are small, you watch and wait. But, if they seem to be changing or getting bigger they should be investigated.

I have had more than five biopsies by the age of 46 for growing fibroademomas, but so far they have all been benign. My MD advises me to track any changes, follow up with routine mammograms, and biopsy any quickly growing lumps. Talk to you doctor to see what he or she recommends ... but try not to worry too much!
