My daughter had stage 3 B.C. and had a lumpectomy over 5 years ago. She was treated with radiationCystitis - noninfectious Radiation therapy, chemo and Herceptin. Herceptin was not continued. She was fine for 4-1/2 years until the lining of the right lung (same side) filled with fluid. Her blood work was continually free of cancer cells. Even the fluid in the lining contained no cancer cells.A CT scan saw nothing. A PTPost-traumatic stress disorder scan found the problem. Two procedures were done. One to completely drain the fluid and one to insert talc and seal the lining back to the lung. There were 5 miniscule nodules in the lining. With chemo, 2 or 3 disappeared so the chemo was repeated. The remaining did not disappear, however. PtPost-traumatic stress disorder Scans were prescribed for every 4 months and Herceptin given every 3 weeks.
I spoke with the radiologist after the biopsy. Answering my question, he did not feel the mass came from the Herceptin, hormone related, even though the adrenal gland is a hormone producer but I believe it is unlike the ovary.
It is my understanding that the mass is not inside the adrenal gland but on it. Do you know of any other cases like this? If so, what treatments were successfully given? Surgical removal of the adrenal gland has not been mentioned. Also, she is seeking a second opinion with the Healthcare option she is contracted with.
Any and all information and suggestions regarding treatments, procedures, medicines, etc. that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! Ruchel
I am very sorry to hear all that your daughter is going through, and I know that you must be very concerned!
However, It would be best for her--and you, if you accompany her to her medical appointments--to pose these questions to her physicians, since they would have all information and test results relevant to her specific case. The second opinion that you mentioned that she is seeking might be a good opportunity for making sure you both have a clearer understanding of all that is going on, and what options are available at this point.
