Does taking premarin add to my risk of breast cancer?

Hormone Replacement Therapy has been proven to increase the risk of developing breast cancer and is rarely prescribed today. The exception would be a very low dose and for a very short time.

I agree with japdip.  I am facing a bilateral salpingo oopherctomy because I am BRCA1+.  My oncologist has made it very clear that I am not a canidate for HRT even though I have had a bilateral mastectomy and the cancer I had was not hormone dependent.  They only thing she may consider is an estrogen ring which only releases a small amount of estrogen which absorbs locally. Very little is actually released into the bloodstream.  This would only be used if other non-hormonal lubricants did not work.  This will not do much for other menopausal symptoms.

Also agree strongly.  In spite of advice to the contrary, I took,not Premarin (pregnant
mare {female horse} urine, but another estrogen replacement.  I am now recovering from a mastectomy!  HRT is not worth the risk, no matter how bad the menopause symptoms.
