Healing /Recovery Time?

I have returned home from the hospital after lumpectomys. I would like to know what anyone else has experienced as far as recovering to go back to work. I only had the one lymph node removed and the tumors removed from the breasts. The pain has been horrible , but I am trying to manage it through scrpts. I have already been thru dreaded chemo... uhhg..

How and what should I be and not be doing? I want to get better fast to go back to work.Since Mom died 3 months ago, my brother has totally stepped up to the plate to take care of me.. so now here i am at his house and he is waiting on me hand  and foot. and he brought valli here and bathed him and everything.. he loves my dawg too.. but how long ... I put in 2 weeks to be out of work.. is this a good guess?

thanx,
sharon

Hi,
First of all I am sorry to know that your mom passed away only 3 months ago. It's so heartbreaking!
You have a wonderful brother though, whose love for you is extraordinary, wanting to help in your time of need and taking care of your child and "dawg" too. :) Wow...!
I also had a lumpectomy and 2 lymph nodes removed.Although I did not have terrible pain,I was uncomfortable for at least 2 to 3 weeks after the surgery.
I have copied for you a link concerning the things you should do, or not do, after a lumpectomy. But please remember to always ask your doctor before exercising, just to make sure that it's appropriate for your particular case.

Wishing you all the best to you and to your wonderful brother.

Hi again,

Thanks for letting us know about your surgery!

Hope you are feeling better, and that your pain is starting to subside.

Give Valli a hug and kiss for me.

I remember I felt great when I got home and had hardly any pain at all. but then a couple of days later it became more difficult?

Sharon,

Sorry you are haing such a rough time!

When you say you are so sick, do you mean in addition to the pain? Were you feeling that sick before the surgery?

If not, it could be the pain meds--they affect some people that way. If you think that might be the case, ask your doctor about trying a different one. People can often tolerate one much better than another.

Hang in there!
