Hi,Thank you for your post .I would think that a mammogram would pick it up .I also have dense breast so I am glad I am getting both done in one day and I do like that I don't have to wait to find out.I was at the Doctors yesterday to go over my test from last week they found a fibroid on my pelvic so I have to wait 3 months and then get a  hysterectomy so I am praying that this is nothing.

My doctor also found a lump on my left breast. It is about 1.6 cm. I had a ultrasound and was told that nothing was found or it did not show up. I now have to have a mammogram on the same day you do. 4/1/09.  I wish you  luck and hope it turns out to be nothing and I have been told that nothing may show on the mamogram either.  I have very dense breast tissue which makes it hard to see anything.

Hi there,When a doctor detects a lump or lumps in the breast,it is a usual routine to have a mammogram and an Ultrasound. The radiologist will let you know if the lump needs further investigation, that will involve a biopsy to find what this lump is..Try not to worry too much right now, because many lumps could be Fibroadenomas or cysts that many women have and they are of benign nature. Wishing you for a good diagnosis for your upcoming tests.Take care.

I'm sure millions of women have been where you are now. Of course it isn't always cancer .... could be a cyst, or a benign breast tumor (Fibroadenoma) ... In any event you need to proceed with the recommended imagery to find out exactly what the lump is and how to deal with it. At your age mammograms are recommended yearly and monthly self breast exams. If you aren't familiar with self examination of your breasts then ask the Technician when you have your mammogram. Regards ....
