Hematoma after stereotactic biopsy

by sisterfriend, Mar 06, 2007 12:00AM
I had a stereotactic core biopsy done 6 days ago and have developed a walnut sized hematoma. It is round hard and painful. I have noticed that it is continuing to turn black and blue as time goes on, opposed to the other breast that had a small bruise that faded from purple to green to yellow etc.
The hematoma is throbing and still very purple black etc..
I am calling my OBGYN but I wondered if any other of you girls have had this happen and what did they do about it..
My results were BENIGN!!!!!WOOP WOOP!!!

I had a whopper of a hematoma too. It took 2-3 months to completely go away. The bruising went away after a month, and the lump took 2-3 months to dissolve. I was assured a number of times that it takes time to heal. I'm fine now. Hang in there!

I have had a hematoma in my breast after a lumpectomy for 5 months of extreme pain!  it is the size of an orange & I will need surgery to remove it since it is not shrinking.  I would love it if it were the size of a walnut!!  they said radiation didn't help the sitiuation so why did they do it?   hang in there!

I had a stereotactic biospy about 2 weeks ago and I have a nice size hemotoma that has formed, and I was informed that it would take a while, because I was afraid something was wrong. So I am just going to continue to be patient. My results were also benign! So I guess we both need to just hang in there together.  Keep me up to date.

I had my stereotactic 4 weeks ago and have the hemotoma and bruising that won't go away...I came on here to search for a cause or reason and glad I found this.. I was going to call the doctor but if I can avoid a visit I will..It seems if I am a little patient it will go away...I will monitor that it doens' get any bigger. thanks

To all really,
I had a stereotactic last week.  They also think I have a hematoma.  Just curious if you all feel painful stinging sensations as a result of this?  As a side note, I don't feel any lump or anything odd and for the most part I'm no longer even sore.
Thanks.

I had a stereotactic Aug 20.  I have a hematoma. I do have the painful stinging sensations.  Almost a burning sensation.  But I've got a lump and a bruise, too.
I feel better after reading everyone's posts!  Continued healing to all.

My results were benign as well, still have soreness and hematoma after two weeks.  But, I also have fatigue, even though no malignancy.  Does anyone think this could be mental fatigue?  Maybe just because I can't get the procedure off my mind (i.e., everytime I get a "twinge" of pain I think about the procedure.)?
