My understanding is that cancer can be er/pr+, her2nu+, or triple negative.  I am her2nu+ and was given Herceptin for 1 year.  It is not a routine -- but if your are her2nu+ -- I highly recommend it.  You must have a good oncologist -- you are a lucky girl.

Her2/neu is pretty much routine with Pathologists and usually determined by either FISH or CISH methods. It has been found to be a very important factor in Breast Cancer Treatment. A tumor can also be ER/PR + and Her2 - . I doubt you would find many Path. Labs not doing it.
