How long should there be painI

I had a mastectomy on 5-30-08 and it is still tender at times. How long does it usually take to heal and have no pain. There is no redness but wanted to be sure this is normal.  Thanks.

Since it hasn't even been one month since your surgery I would think you would still have some tenderness in the area .... actually due to the nerves that were cut during surgery it might be tender for several months and maybe even longer. I feel that my scar and the area around it it still somewhat tender and it's been 6 years. As an example, when the shower hits the area at full force. Just because the area is tender doesn't mean that it isn't healing.

Hi, Thanks for your comment. I am glad to hear that you are 6 years out. Did you have chemo?
