Husband's lump

Husband's lump

My husband found a small lump in his chest 3 weeks ago.  It is about an inch to the side and down from his left nipple.  It is hard and about the size of a kidney bean.  We went to the doctor and he blew it off as a possible result of a medication my husband has recently started taking-singular-even though no mention of this particular side effect could be found in any reference guide of elsewhere. I don't want to make a mountain out of a kidney bean but I do want my husband to be safe.  I already have an appointment with another doctor.  Should we be worried?  Or is this something that is normal?

Dear Minna29, Male breast cancer is rare, but one out of every 150 cases of breast cancer involves a man, usually in men over 60 years old.  Although a painless breast lump is the most common sign, most breast lumps in men are benign (non-cancerous) and are related to some other cause.  If you and your husband are concerned, having a second opinion is always your option.
