I am so scared help please...

Hi, I am 28 y.o. female with 2 kids and no history of breast or any kind of canser in family. Last night I found a lump-like growth in my left breast, the area on the skin is reddish and I feel slightly pain and discomfort at the particular area. I just had my period and usually my breasts are getting bigger and tender before and during period. I am also pretty sure that there was nothing like a lump or pain or redness before my last period. I am so scared now. Can it be canser?

Dear Olga_Vy:  At your age, cancer is unlikely.  Given the symptoms you describe, this could be an infection.  Either way, you should be examined by your physician.

at your age, with a suddenly-appearing painful red lump, it's much more likely to be an infection (abscess) or other non-cancerous process. It's not possible to say for sure it's not cancer, without being able to examine it: but it's not highly likely. But you need to have it examined and diagnosed, no matter what it is: assuming it's infection, the sooner treated, the better. So try not to be too scared, but get attention as soon as you can.

Thank You for the answer. I am little relieved now, thanks again. I will see a specialist on monday ( gyn is the right one I guess) . Hope nothing terrible will be found.

Make sure they take an MRI - IBC, a rare form of breast cancer can cause swelling and redness, but cannot be picked up by a regular pet or mammogram scan. My Mom has it and it was mis-diagnosed as a infection. She lost a whole month because of mis-diagnosis so it is better to get an MRI and be safe. Hope this helps.
