I had breast cancer, chemo, taxil (not sure if spelled correct) and still have bone aches in my feet & hands

I had chemo about 6 months ago and ever since I have had my feet and hands hurt like either arthritis or something from chemo?   Not sure what to do about it.  I have no insurance so money is very tight.

This discussion is related to Taxol..Long term side effects??.

I also had the same kind of chemo treatments as you and now, about 16 months after I had my last taxol treatment, I have pretty painful joints, especially in my hands.  The joint closest to my hands that goes to my thumbs is extremely sensitive.  I have to be careful doing anything with my hands now.  I was an artist before I was diagnosed with breast cancer and my hands are my most important tool I have.  Fortunately, we have good insurance.  This past week I saw my primary doctor to get help with my hands and he ordered me to get xrays of my hands.  I guess we will go from there.  He may send me to a hand surgeon.  I put off going to the doctor about this for so long because I thought the painful joint problems would gradually go away like the neuropathy in my hands and toes after taking taxol.  If anything, it's a lot worse now.  A friend of mine who has leukemia, thinks that the joint pain could be from the neulasta shots I received several times before chemo treatments.  I'll try to update any results or treatments I get after the doctors read my xray results.

I've heard from other chemo patients that it can cause neuropathy in the feet in particular, and that it can last quite a while after chemo is done. If you want more specifics from women who have gone through the same thing, go to
bcsupport.org     and check their chemo board.
