I need help understanding my US report.

Back story ; 34 year old female, lump under left armpit for aprox 3 months, skin is discolored where lump is located. Lump changes in size, when its larger it is painful but when it is small it doesn't cause pain. Had ultrasound done 16 Aug,I have a apt with a surgon in a few days. I am very concerned and anxious!!  Ultra sound report showed the following:

The palpable mass of concern corresponds to a heterogeneous hypoechoic solid, flattened mass within the deep subcutaneous tissue whose posterior margins indent but do not penetrate the breat parenchyma. The irregularly contoured mass measures 8mm longitudinally by 7 mm transverse by a max of 4mm in thickness centerally. The mass elevates the dermal layer with its superfical margin being between 1 and 2 mm deep into the skin.

Any help understanding this would be appericated!

Hi,
A solid nodule found in the axilla area or in the breast,has to be further investigated.
The Surgeon will look at the ultrasound images and decide whether a biopsy is needed at this time or just monitoring the lump.
Since this lump seems to change from large to small,I wouldn't worry so much.Most breast lumps are benign in nature,and many women have them.
This lump could very well be a cyst or a fibroadenoma,(both benign growths) that tend to enlarge,before your menstrual cycle and subside when your menses are over.However, the Surgeon has to evaluate it for a correct diagnosis.
