IBC

I am a 42 year old black female. I just found what looks like a insect bite of some sort just inches away from my nipple. I am concerned and have made appt with my family practice Dr. To get an order for an MRI. From info that i have read mammograms do not detect this properly an i just want to make sure that i am not dealing with something more serious. This strange looking insect bite itches and has not gotten bigger since i discovered it days ago. Can i get some feedback from anyone who is experiencing similar issues, thanks!

If you are thinking along the lines of IBC I think you aren't correct. With IBC the entire breast can become very swollen and the redness as well as the swelling increases very rapidly. The breast is also quite hot to the touch. I doubt that an MRI would be a proper test for the symptoms that you describe. IBC can often be best diagnosed either by symptoms or by a punch type biopsy of the skin. It is a good idea to see your Dr. though if you think this might be something serious but it seems a bit drastic if this, as you say, appears to be an insect bite. The skin on the breast is the same as skin on any other part of the body and subject to the same problems.  Regards ...
